Product Details

The Classic Day Swannies by Swanwick are stylish glasses designed to block blue light exposure during the daytime. These glasses are particularly useful for people who want to reduce eye fatigue caused by staring at a computer screen or other digital devices. The Day Swannies feature very lightly tinted lenses that nearly look clear, as opposed to the many blue light blocking glasses with dark orange lenses.

Other features:

  • Blocks blue light in the wavelengths between 400 and 450 nanometers
  • Contains prescription-grade lenses with anti-reflective coating
  • Made of lightweight, BPA-free cellulose acetate
  • Provides ultraviolet (UV) light protection
  • Available in regular size
  • Has flexible spring hinges to provide comfort and increase durability
  • Available in multiple frame colors
Care

Classic Day Swannies come with a lens cloth that you can use for basic care. Clean the glasses by wetting the lens cloth with warm water, then wiping them clean. You may also clean Swannies by spraying them with any glasses lens cleaning spray, then wiping them with the lens cloth.

Do not clean Swannies with harsh cleansers, including glass cleaner, vinegar, bleach, and ammonia. These substances may damage or remove the anti-reflective coating on the lenses.

To help your Swannies last, store them in a cool, dry area. Swannies are made from acetate, which is a plastic that can change shape when exposed to very hot temperatures. For this reason, you should not leave them in a car on a hot day. If your Swannies are exposed to heat and become misshapen, you may be able to readjust them yourself using a blow dryer or have an eyewear store readjust them for you.

Frequently asked questions

Do anti-blue light glasses really work?

A third-party lab called COLTS Laboratories conducted testing to verify that Swanwick Classic Day Swannies block blue light. Classic Day Swannies block most of the blue light between 400 and 450 nm, which is the part of the spectrum that has been associated with difficulties like eye strain and headaches.

Is it bad to wear blue light blocking glasses all day?

According to Swanwick, Classic Day Swannies "can be worn all day, every day." They are likely to be especially useful when you're viewing the screen of a digital device or sitting under artificial lights. People haven't reported negative side effects from wearing the glasses during the day.

What time of day should you wear blue light glasses?

The Swanwick Classic Day Swannies are designed to be worn at any time during daytime hours, morning or afternoon. They block the segment of blue light that is suspected to cause problems for people viewing digital devices or sitting under artificial light, while still allowing in some of the segment of blue light that is thought to be beneficial during the day.

You may also want to wear blue light glasses at night, before bed, too. But, the Classic Day Swannies aren't ideal for nighttime wear. Blue light blocking glasses with dark orange lenses are better for just before sleep, as these block a wider segment of the blue light portion of the spectrum that may otherwise keep people alert.

Who shouldn't wear the Swanwick Classic Day Swannies?

Swanwick Classic Day Swannies aren't ideal for people wanting to block their blue light exposure in the hours before sleep. The Classic Day Swannies allow in blue light that is believed to be beneficial to maintaining healthy circadian rhythms when received during the daytime. Night Swannies or other blue light blocking glasses that have dark orange lenses block the full range of blue light and are better suited for people looking to improve their sleep.
