We reviewed the SweetNight CoolNest Pro in our sleep lab, where we put mattresses through rigorous testing. What’s It Like to Sleep on the SweetNight CoolNest Pro Mattress?

The SweetNight CoolNest Pro has a firmness level of medium (5). When you lie down on the mattress, you can feel a noticeable hug as the memory foam layers conform to your body. Depending on your body weight and sleeping position, you may find this to feel just right, or it may feel too soft.

Our testing team found that the performance of the CoolNest Pro stood out for its ability to relieve pressure, especially for side sleepers. The mattress was also superb at isolating motion, so you could barely detect movement on the other side of the bed. The main performance drawbacks we identified were below-average edge support and difficulty moving around on the mattress surface for people who weigh 130 pounds or more.

Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness

Our team rated the firmness of the SweetNight CoolNest Pro as medium, or a 5 on our scale of 1 to 10. For reference, the mattresses you find in hotels are usually medium firm (6) or firm (7).

Your firmness preferences, sleeping position, and weight directly affect whether a mattress feels comfortable and supportive enough for sleep. That’s why there’s no single mattress that works for everyone. 

To help you choose the best mattress, consider whether you spend most of your time on your side, back, or stomach (or if you constantly shift between them). Also think about your body shape and weight. Finding the right fit for you can make the difference between high-quality, pain-free sleep and waking up in the night with aches and pains.

Side Sleepers

For side sleepers, a mattress needs to cushion the hips and shoulders without giving out beneath the body. Our testing found that side sleepers up to 230 pounds received a high level of support from the CoolNest Pro and its two memory foam layers. 

The combination of foams kept most side sleepers in a healthy spinal alignment, but the mattress was less supportive for side sleepers over 230 pounds. In our testing people with a higher body weight were more likely to sink too deeply into the mattress.

Back Sleepers

To get enough support, back sleepers need a sturdy and relatively firm surface that prevents their midsection from sagging into the mattress. At the same time, they need just enough cushioning to adapt to the curve of the lower back.

During our tests, the CoolNest Pro earned the highest ratings from back sleepers under 130 pounds. People between 130 and 230 pounds received adequate support, but most said they prefer a firmer mattress. Back sleepers over 230 pounds reported too much sinkage and limited support.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers usually need a firmer mattress to keep their spine on an even plane. If a mattress is too soft, the abdomen can push into the bed and pull the spine out of alignment.

Based on our test results, the SweetNight CoolNest Pro is well suited to stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds (and are less likely to sink into the mattress). Stomach sleepers weighing 130 pounds or more said the CoolNest Pro felt too soft for their support needs.

What Is the SweetNight CoolNest Pro Mattress Made Of?

All interior layers of the SweetNight CoolNest Pro are made of foam. The standard version of the mattress is 14 inches tall, but it also comes in 12-inch and 16-inch versions. While the thickness of the layers is different in those models, the order and arrangement of the foams are the same. 

Three layers make up the CoolNest Pro’s comfort system. The top layer is responsive polyfoam infused with a phase change material (PCM) designed to dissipate heat and maintain a neutral temperature. The next two layers are made of memory foam, which contours to the body to relieve pressure and also isolates motion. The bottom two layers are made with firmer and thicker polyfoams that stabilize the mattress.

These materials are engineered to promote more airflow than traditional foams, and a cover made with a silk blend further enhances the breathability.

The 14-inch SweetNight CoolNest Pro is an affordable mattress with a price-point that is solidly below average for all-foam mattresses, especially those that include memory foam. Although it’s not the cheapest mattress on the market, the CoolNest Pro offers significant value for budget-conscious shoppers.

The 12-inch model of the CoolNest Pro costs less than the 14-inch model, while the 16-inch version is the most expensive.
